The beautiful American Idol alum Katherine McPhee will star in the new NBC series 'Smash' as a budding singer-actress auditioning for a Marilyn Monroe role in a musical.
McPhee, runner-up to AI Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, is a native of Los Angeles, California, has hits under her belt. Her self-titled debut album landed number 2 in the Billboard charts.
'Smash' will premier on February 6 at NBC also stars Will & Grace's Debra Messing.
