Last season's American Idol grand champ Scotty McCreery is now a bonifide platinum artist.
His debut album 'Clear As Day' is the highest selling album of an American Idol alumnus.
It also coincides with Billboard's naming Scotty as their Top New Country Artist of 2011. His album sold with more than one million copies in just three months.
"It means so much to me. It's one of the highest honors you can get with your album and it's a huge testament to the loyalty of country music fans. 2011 was absolutely an incredible, life-changing year for me. I want to say a huge thanks to the fans for this." said McCreery in a press release.
Scotty also made history when he became the youngest artist to top the all-genre chart with his debut album. 'Clear As Day" is also the highest selling debut album of a country artist and was on the number 1 spot for almost six weeks.
"I Love You This Big", the first single released on his album is already a certified gold. His next single release from his album "The Trouble With Girls" is nearing the gold status.
