Recap: Day 1 of American Idol Season 11 audition.

“American Idol is like an icon of the American society.”

This is what many who auditioned see in the Season 11 of American Idol.

The judges were in high spirits. The always beautiful Jennifer Lopez said “Steven (Tyler) and Randy (Jackson) are my family now.” And American Idol is their home. And the auditioners are their children. “We’ll never stop believing in you!” Randy said to the AI hopefuls.

The first stop of the epic journey of season 11 is in Savannah, Georgia.

It was a very lovely day and everybody was just in high spirits. They even had video cams to document their way to the AI audition.

More the 10,000 came from different parts of America. All of them carrying the hope that they will be chosen to receive the golden ticket to Hollywood.

First to audition was David Leathers Jr aka Mr. Steal your girl. Small for his age, the judges thought he’s 12 but actually he’s already 17. He said that there was a contest in school and the special guest was Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and said someday he will be like Scotty. He sang ‘Remember the Ran’ and the judges like it. They said he’s like a little Michael Jackson and asked if he can sing a Michael Jackson song and he did. He san ‘Never can say Goodbye’ and again, the judges like it muck.

The judges were so happy and said the auditions might start in a very good note.

Next to audition was Gabi Carruba. A 16-year-old Conneticut native. But was too excited to see Nigel Lythgoe than the judges. The tap dancer since 2 years old sand ‘Sunday Morning’ by Maroon5 and the judges like it so much.

Tyler said that day 1 was a great day for talen. “The best start they ever had” Ryan Seacrest said.

And, a Ryan Seacrest doppleganger, Shaun Kraisman auditioned. The judges were stunned with the similarities but said no but, the confidence of Shaun said will be his passport to stardom.

Former major league baseball pitcher Joe Magrane’s 6ft tall 15 year old daughter Shannon also auditioned and sang her version of ‘I got a Feeling’. Randy called the whole family in the audition room and Shannon got the golden ticket.

Then came siblings Colton and Shyler Dixon who auditioned last year as a team. This time, it was only Shyler who auditioned. But Jennifer remembered her and the judges asked if her brother can come too. The judges asked Colton why he is not auditioning this time. He said that he wants his sister to have her time on her own this time. But the judges insisted, Colton sang. And in that impromptu audition, Colton got the golden ticket. And his sister too.

First day most memorable auditioner was Amy Brumfield. She is living in a tent in the middle of the woods with her boyfriend. She said that her boyfriend’s working hard for them to get out of the woods but no matter where they will live, if they’re together, they are just too happy. Amy sang ‘Superwoman’ by Alicia Keys and wowed the judges and called her a hippsie.
